Ollie & Helen - Lindy Hop

Hello!
We are Ollie & Helen, Bristol-based dancers teaching Lindy Hop, authentic jazz dances and original choreography.
What we offer
A detailed approach, in a fun & friendly environment.
What is Lindy Hop?
The Lindy Hop is a partner dance, born in the African-American communities of Harlem, New York City – in particular the Savoy Ballroom – during the Harlem Renaissance of the late 1920s.
Lindy Hop incorporated many of the dances that preceded it, including Jazz, Tap and Charleston. It gained a huge following during the Swing Era of the late 1930s and people have been enthusiastically dancing it ever since.
There is now a vibrant community of Lindy Hoppers in the UK and all around the world.
Lindy Hop is fun!
It’s a playful dance of improvisation and self-expression. It’s mainly danced to Swing music and Big Band Jazz but can also be danced to Boogie-woogie and early Rock ’n’ Roll.
It can be as smooth or energetic as you want it to be, so it’s great for dancers of all ages and fitness levels. The dance can be adapted to suit your individual style.
It’s a great way to meet and interact with people. There’s a fantastic social scene here in Bristol and throughout the UK, with lots of opportunities to dance to live music.
